Preferences in the Early Stages of Mate Choice

Isa sa mga pinag-aaralan kong article patungkol sa mate selection kahapon ay ang Preferences in the Early Stages of Mate Choice ni K. Lewis.

E biglang may exponential random graph modeling.

  • Couples tend to be similar because individuals prefer similarity in a partner. This preference stems from the ease of communication, mutual validation, and common understanding supported by shared experiences, values, and backgrounds.
  • Men and women alike prefer racial similarity in a partner.
  • Men who make $0 to $30,000 significantly prefer women in the same income bracket. This is plausibly due to a “ floor” effect where all men prefer women who make less than they do—an option uniquely unavailable for men in the lowest category.
  • Excepting men with a university degree, men at all other levels of education significantly prefer women who share their educational background.
  • The important thing for women in terms of attracting a potential mate is having a bachelor’s degree—and only a bachelor’s degree: Women with a two-year college degree, a master’s degree, or a JD/MD/PhD are significantly less likely to receive messages than women with a university education.
  • Men and women from nearly all religious categories significantly prefer mates from the same background.

What options does that leave those who do not have a college degree?

Since this is just at the early stage of mate choice, is there also a study on the length and strength of bond formed by these certain standards?

The way I see it, no matter what standards or choices had been set, it all boils down to the idea if it can last a lifetime and how can it be considered the right choice.

OkCupid ba ito? LOLs. That dating site has a set of questions and range of answers for some of the bullet points presented on this study. Oh yes, I had answered the first 100 questions as it promised that it can provide a better match once answers were provided. Ending, eto ako, basang-basa sa ulan. Char! Hahaha
